  Q. What inspired you to want to become a writer? A. Growing up, I read a lot of comic books and watched a lot of TV – horror movies, action movies, cartoons, and mystery shows. I had a wild imagination. One year, my teacher gave us a writing assignment and I just ran with it. Story writing became easy for me because of my imagination. Q. What inspired you to write the book Social Distance? How did it come about? A. The idea started as a documentary. Back in 1994, the local liquor store around the corner from where I grew up at in Chicago (the store on my book cover), was a popular spot. They sold cassettes and we all had sound systems in our cars at that time. Between that corner and the green line El station across the street, you saw a lot of homeless guys, asking for pocket change or opportunities to wash your car or do anything that they could get paid. Q. What inspired you in wanting to become a comic book artist? A. Reading many types of Marvel Comics as a kid and watching cartoons. Q. When did you realize that you can draw? A. Most likely the age of 5 years old. I used to draw silly cartoons and copy Peanuts drawings. Q. Briefly, explain what is the process to put together a comic book? A. My process starts with “thumbnail” sketches, then I redraw those sketches on larger comic book boards (pencils and inks). I scan the art, send it to my email then transfer to the Procreate app. I clean up any mistakes or smudges and add effects/colors. Afterward I transfer this file to “Comic Draw” app and letter each page, covers and other content. Q. You have created many comic books that you released. Do you have a favorite one? A. I love my Tooth and Nail books the most and so far, my favorite issue is #6. Q. Do you have a character that you created, and you fell in love with?
