The First African American to Publish an Inspirational and Entertainment Magazine in Kankakee County
Recently, Kankakee County Museum hosted and celebrated the legacy and 20th year anniversary of Consciousness Magazine, founded by bestselling author, Aaron Robinson, the first African American to publish an inspirational and entertainment magazine in Kankakee County. This milestone event featured the induction of the first print issue of Consciousness Magazine from 20 years ago, marking two decades of impactful and inspiring content that has resonated with a diverse audience.
Speakers included Aaron Robinson (publisher, celebrity graphic designer, bestselling author and philanthropist), Mozella Malone (Vice President) and live entertainment by platinum recording artist BenOne, recording artist Tocarra, Mr Bravalis and pianist Aiden Sullivan. Josephine Lafi was the master of ceremony for the event as many guest filled the room as Robinson was honored for being the visionary and trailblazer behind the publication that started in a bedroom converted to an office to becoming a nationwide magazine.
